In order to maintain state approval, each year state-approved nonpublic schools must submit a Nonpublic Annual School Report by October 15. These Reports are used by the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) to determine and recommend annual academic classifications to the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE).
Nonpublic schools that fail to submit a Nonpublic School Annual Report during the reporting period jeopardize the school’s annual academic classification, and thus state funding.
Data obtained from the Nonpublic Annual School Report is used to verify nonpublic school compliance with BESE policies, allocate funding, complete the Annual Financial and Statistical Report, support educational research, and publish the Louisiana School Directory.
Nonpublic school administrators may submit the Nonpublic Annual School Report electronically via the Nonpublic Schools Data Collection System, which is accessible through the Louisiana Educational Accountability Data System (LEADS).
The 2011 Nonpublic Schools Annual Report User Guide provides specific instructions for logging on to LEADS and Nonpublic Schools Data Collection System, and includes contact information for individuals seeking technical assistance; instructions for resetting passwords; screen by screen instructions for electronically submitting nonpublic school data; links to specific nonpublic school regulations; and mandatory documentation for the Nonpublic Annual School Report.
To gain access to LEADS, administrators can request a User ID by completing and submitting the LEADS Nonpublic School Site Level Security Request Form to the Nonpublic Security Coordinator, as indicated on the form. If you already have a User ID for use of other LDOE systems, such as the Student Transcript System (STS), please complete the form by indicating your current User ID. If access to LEADS is granted, you will be assigned a User ID and a temporary password.
New users must verify their User ID by accessing the LDOE Password Reset System (PRS). Passwords expire every 30 days. After initial verification, administrators will be able to use the PRS whenever necessary to reset passwords. Failure to perform initial verification of your User ID will restrict users from accessing the PRS to reset passwords and delay access to LEADS. For LDOE guidelines pertaining to LEADS, please refer to the LEADS Nonpublic School Security and Confidentiality Policy.
