Mission Statement
The mission of the Executive Office of the State Superintendent is to recommend and implement public education policy in accordance with the Louisiana Constitution, legislation, and regulations of the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE).
The State Superintendent, through the Executive Office, directs the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) to provide educators and its citizens with the information, leadership, technical assistance and oversight necessary to create a world-class education system.
The Executive Office provides professional leadership and management services through the following strategies:
- Through the Office of Public Affairs, the Executive Office handles public information activities and serves as a liaison between the State Superintendent of Education and public audiences, partners, and education stakeholders.
- Through the Office of Governmental Affairs, the Executive Office coordinates legislative issues that impact K-12 education.
- The Office of Policy works within and outside LDOE to create, champion, and implement initiatives that will help Louisiana reach its critical student outcome goals efficiently and effectively.
- The Superintendent’s Delivery Unit is tasked with helping LDOE realign and dedicate its resources to most effectively support the needs of local school districts as they strive to improve educational outcomes.
- The Bureau of Internal Audit serves as an auditor for LDOE activities and has a dual-reporting responsibility to BESE and the Superintendent of Education.
- The Office of the General Counsel provides legal support and representation to LDOE, as well as guidance for local school districts, parents, and stakeholders.
